Inspection Window

The large size of these nuclear-powered aircraft carriers can be gauged from the way the aircraft are dwarfed by the flight deck surface of 182 hectares. The Carrier Air Wing transported in each of these carriers is larger and better balanced than most national air forces in the world. The CAW usually comprises twenty-four naval fighters F-14 Tomcat, twenty-four polyvalent fighters F/A-18 Hornet, ten attack aircraft A-6E Intruder, four tanker aircraft KA-6D Intruder, four early warning aircraft E-2C Hawkeye AEW, ten antisubmarine aircraft S-3A Viking ASW and six antisubmarine helicopters SH-3H Sea King ASW plus transports.
