IV

Brest was a key enclave for the German war effort. This was the place towards which the ill-fated battleship Bismarck headed on her escape from the British combined war fleets on May 1941. This scene of the U 201 moored at Brest would have taken place sometime on 1942.

Drydock

The stay of German submarines on drydock did not prolonge beyond the necessary for effectuating repairs and provisioning for the next mission. In these labors worked together the mariners of the submarine and the specialized personnel of the dock. Immediately after all the works were finished, the submarine would depart for her next mission.
